Our Mission

Art for All: Providing access through education, exhibition, collection, and preservation.

A Commitment to the Community

The Saginaw Art Museum serves as a vital cultural resource for the Great Lakes Bay Region. Our mission is to provide access to art for all through curated exhibitions, educational outreach, and the stewardship of our permanent collection.

We believe that art has the power to transform lives, spark dialogue, and build bridges across communities. Whether through our historic 1904 mansion or our contemporary galleries, we strive to create a welcoming environment where creativity thrives.

"To be a premier art museum that inspires and engages a diverse community through world-class art and education."

Our History

The Saginaw Art Museum is housed in a magnificent 1904 Georgian-Revival mansion designed by Charles Adams Platt. Originally the home of Ring Lardner’s brother-in-law, the building itself is a masterpiece of early 20th-century architecture.

Historical Photo

Over the decades, the museum has expanded its footprint while preserving its historic charm. In 2003, a major renovation added contemporary gallery spaces, an auditorium, and modern climate control systems to protect our growing collection of over 2,000 works of art.
